The ‘A Game of Thrones’ tv series got the green light from HBO. I suppose that’s ultimately a better title for the whole tv show over A Song of Ice And Fire, the actual name of the full 7 book series.  I started reading this series back in late September, and am now almost finished with the 4th (and most recent) book.  The author is working on book 5 at the moment, claiming he just hit page 1311 on Monday, when this was announced. Anyhow, it’s a pretty good series, if you enjoy this sort of thing.  The HBO-related press isn’t far off when it says: Unlike many fantasy novels, the “Thrones” series largely avoids relying on magical elements and instead goes for brutal realism — think “Sopranos” with swords. And the casting of Peter Dinklage is brilliant, by the way.
